1. In addition to these drawings, all structural provisions of the Mi-inesota
Residential Code shall be followed.
2. The drawings represent the finished structure. All means and methods not
explicitly addressed are by the contractor.
3. Refer to architectural drawings for dimensions.
4. Structural drawings and design are for lateral wind loads only. Additional
structural information may be found in architectural plans and sh ld be
followed. If any discrepancies are noted, they should be brought t the architects
and engineers attention prior to construction.
5. The contractor shall verify, field check, all sizes, dimensions, el nlations,
locations, etc. of elements of the existing construction which are r6lative to new

2. Laminated Veneer Lumber (LVL) shall have the following minimum properties:

b. Shear Stress Fv= 285 psi
c. Modulus of Elasticity E = 1,800,000 psi
d. Compression Parallel to Grain Fcii = 750 psi
e. Compression Perpendicular to Grain Fc = 2510 psi
3. See IBC Table 2304.9.1 for fastening schedule.
4. All wood in direct contact with concrete, earth, or weathering shall be treated.
5. All steel in contact with treated wood (connectors,joist hangers, nails, bolts, etc.)
shall be stainless steel or galvanized
6. Simpson products called out herein may be replaced with USP or similar of equal
or greater capacity.

We were contacted by you on November 26, 2019 to provide a design of the lateral resisting
system for a new screen porch at the address noted above. The attached design is for wind loads,
as noted in the design criteria, and gravity loads on the beam hanger and(2)2x8 blocking. The
design does not include design or verification of any other structural members due to gravity
loads.The new deck was not included in Ql}rd s n.!lease see the attached updated plans, dated
12/4/2019 for informationregarding the lateral design of the new screen porch.

2. Laminated Veneer Lumber (LVL) shall have the following minimum properties:

c. Modulus of Elasticity E = 1,800,000 psi
d. Compression Parallel to Grain Fcii = 750 psi

4. All wood in direct contact with concrete, earth, or weathering shall be treated.

Structural Steel
1. Steel angles, channels, plates, and bars shall meet the requirements of ASTM
