Thc aluminum linc pos[ stiffener is inserted into [he vinyl post,
then attached to the decking subshucWre with four galvanized
carriage bolts, washers and nuts. Bottom rail bracke[s aze
attached to the post with four stainless steel screws. The vinyl
bottom rail is installed between the posts by inserting the ends
into the bottom bracket openings. The top and bottom rail are
mnnufactured wi[h openings to accept the vertical balusters
and have two notches on each end to prevent the rails from
disengaging from the post openings. The vinyl posts are
manufactured with openings to accept the top rail. See Figures
1 through 3 of this report for diagrams of the guard systems.
¦ Decking
Wes[echg Fence's Presidio Vnyl Decking System is used as
an al[ernative to a combustible flooring system for exterior
balconies, porches, decks and similar appendages for Use
Group R-3 buildings of eombustible construction where the
floor/ceiling assemblies are permitted to be unprotected
wnstruction. The walking surface of the Westech(R Fence's
Presidio V nyl Decking System is grooved to provide a coarse
surface.
WestechO Fence's Presidio Vinyl Decking Sys[em floor
planlcs are 6 1/2 in. (165 mm) wide, I v2 in. (38 mm) thiek and
aze available in various lengths. A floor plank component
profile has four ribbed cel l openings and is shaped to interbek
with adjacent floor plarilcs. The planks are fas[ened to the
suppoRing constmcrion with eight 1 3/a ia (44 mm) stainless
steel screws at a maximum of 24 ia (610 mm) on centec. See
Figure 4 of this report for diagrams of thc plank component.

to the requirements for slip resistance in Section 1005.4 of the
BOCA Nationa! Building Code11999, is subject to the specific
approval of the code official.
