The followmg is offered as'response to your plan review letter of October 23, 2001. The
items are numbered in the order as they appear in your review letter.
1.) Accessibleparldngstalls.
One accessible parldng stall shall be added south of the accessible aisle at
Building 44 for a total of nine accessible parldng stalls. Four will then be van
accessi'ble.
2.) Design of Wall Type 4.
Drawing Sheet A10. Wall Type shown as Wall Type 5 shall be changed to Wall
Type 4 and the left most Wall Type shown as Wall Type 7 shall be changed to
Wall Type 5. The use ofttus newly designated Wa]] Type 5 shall be to provide
vertical space for plumbing and/or ventilation without penetrating adjacent one
hour corridor or party wall construction.
3.) Submit sprinkler pians for review.
This shall be the responsi'blity of the General Contractor and/or the Design-Build
Fire Protection Sub-Contractor.

4.) Provide Rubbish chute detail, and fire stop assembly between floors, if necessary.
Please see attached manufacturer's 24"chute detaiL The shaft shall be 2-hour
construction vs. 1-hotu as mdicated. Same shall apply for shaR at flue.
5.) Provide approved fire rated assemblies for all penetrations in rated wall and ceiling
assemblies.
Per note on Drawing Sheets A60 and A54, it shall be the responsiblity of a11
ContractorslSub-Contractors whose work causes penetration of any rated
assembly to provide this informarion for your approval prior to causing the
penetration.
6.) The 2-hour rated enclosures shall have 90-mmute protection for all openings.
Doors No. 130, 131, 224, 230, 231, 324, 330 and 331 shall be 90-minute
self-closing doors vs. 60-minute as indicated on Drawing Sheet A15.
7.) Non-accessible units made adaptable.
Units comply as adaptable. Kitchen smk is in a base cabmet that can be removed to
lower sink to 34".
8.) Note: All walls shall be sheetrocked from floor to ceiting, includ'mg shower and tub
walls.
9.) Two sets ofplumbing and meabanical plans are required.
This shall be the responsibility of the Contractor and/or the related Design-Build
Sub-Contractor.
10.) Stairwell (A) shall comply with Section 1005.3.3.1.
Stairwell (A) complies per Exceprion 1. as it is seperated from the floor above by
Door 224. (The two atmospherically interconnected floors do not communicate
with other floors.)
11. Floar truss support at elevator shaft.
F1oor truss support at elevator shaft shall be (1) 2 x 12 anchored to masonry wall
with 5/8" x 6" expansion anchors at 4'-0" oc.

14.) Provide a Sre protection plan and floppy disk.
RVK Architects will provide this document and disk when in receipt of all
drawings and other information required to be compiled for a complete fue
protection plan as per yow ercample.

Discharge Doors
Type "A": The "A" horizontal rolling door is used for
rubbish chute installations or any thute with open end-
discharge. The door is of "B" label construc[ion with 1"
thick insulanon endosed in an aluminized steel coveC,.._
but it dces not bear a label. The door is supported by
four rolllis riding in mdmed trecks and is held nortnaliy_..:
open with a fusible link. when the link is opened tig=•'??
excessive heat, gravity causes the door to roll shut. Type "H"; The hopper diuharge is normally uzed when
the d6charge is to be huilt into the wall The sides and
top of the hopper are made of 16 gauge aluminaed
steel, the bottom (or impact area of the hopper) is made
of 73 gauge aluminaed steel. The discharge opening is
formed onro a struaurat angle door frame. The sloped
bottom is supported on a 2" pipe pedestal. 4Vhen the
ma[erial dropped is excep4onally heavy or when the
height of drop is great the thickness of the impact area
can be inoeased and a stmaural steel support frame
can be substituted for the pipe pedestaL A 2" drain at
the low point of Ne hopper permits flushing down the
chute with the door closed The dischar9e door is
furnished with a top hinged counterbalanced assembly
that holds the door open unless closed manually. The
counter balance has a fusi6le link that permits the door
to automatically shut in case the link is opened by heat or fire. The door also has a lever latch at the bottom to
draw the doortight against!he gasket. This latch i: only
to be used when the chute is being Nushed duwn.
Doors carrythe UL 1 12 hour 'B' Label designation and
are rated for a 250' F inaximum temperature rise in 30
minures.

We have completed our review of the construcrion documents submitted in pursuit of obtaining a building
permit for the above-referenced project. This review is not intended to be an exhausrive and
comprehensive report. Unless othenvise noted, all references aze to the 1997 U.B.C. It is our goal that tlus
review will help you in complying with the applicahle codes and we are, therefore, requesring that the
following items be addressed.
1. A total of nine accessible parking stalls aze required, with two being van accessible.
2. Designate the design for wall type O
3. Submit sprinkler plans for review.
4. Provide a rubbish chute detail, including a fire stop assembly between floors, if necessary.
5. Provide approved fue rated assembles for all penetrations m rated wall and ceiling assemblies.
6. The 2-hour rated exit enclosures shall have 90-minute protecrion for all openmgs.
7. Table 16.2 of the MSAC requ'ses that all non-accessible units be made adaptable. See enclosed
printouts for details.
8. Note: All walls shall be sheetrocked from floor ro ceiling, including shower and tub walls.
9. Two sets of plumbing and mechanical plans are requued.
10. Stairwell (A) shall comply with Section 10053.3.1.
11. Provide a detail showing how the floor trusses will be suppoRed at the elevator shaft.
12. Unless 60" above the walking surface, all glazing in stair enclosures shall be tempered; see
Section 2406.4, #10.
13. Provide completed Electric Power and Lighting form.
14. Provide a fire protection plan on an 8-1/2" x 11" sheet of paper and a floppy disk in Auto CAD
dwg release 14 or dxf release 14. This will assist emergency persoanel responding to the site. An
example is enclosed.

TC 24. An easement agreement for Project 771 (Lexington Ave - Divided Four-Lane

and the Mayor and City Clerk were authorized to execute all related documents.

We have completed our review of the construcrion documents submitted in pursuit of obtaininao a building
permit for the above-referenced project. Tlus review is not intended to be an exhausrive and
comprehensive report. Unless otherwise noted, all references are to the 1997 U.B.C. It is our goal that this
review will help you in complying with the applicable codes and we are, therefore, requesting that the
following items be addressed.
1. A total of nine accessible parking stalls are requued, with two being van accessible.
2. Designate the design for wall type O
3. Submie sprinkler plans for review.
4. Provide a ruhbish chute detail, including a fse srop assembly between floors, if necessary.
5. Provtde approved fue rated assembles for all penetrations in rated wall and ceiling assemblies.
6. The 2-hour rated exit enclosures shall have 90-minute protecrion for all openings.
7. Table 162 of the MSAC requires that all non-accessible uniu be made adaptable. See enclosed
prinrouts for details.
8. Note: All walls shall be sheehocked from floor to ceiling, including shower and tub walls.
9. Two sets of plumbing and mechanical plans are required.
10. Stairwell (A) shall comply with Secaon 10053.3.1.
11. Provide a detail showing how the floor trusses will be supported at the elevator shaR.
12. Unless 60" above the wallcing surface, all glazmg in stair enclosures shall be tempered; see
Section 2406.4, #10.
13. Provide completed Electric Power and Lighting form.
14. Provide a fire protection plan on an 8-1/2" x 11" sheet of paper and a floppy disk in Auto CAD
dwg release 14 or dxf release 14. Tlus will assist emergency personnel responding to the site. An
example is enclosed.

The grant of the foregoing temporary easement for site grading purposes includes the right
of the City, its contractors, agents and servants to enter upon the premises at all reasonable times to
construct, reconstruct and inspect site grading and the fiuther right to remove trees, brush,
undergrowth and other obstructions. After completion of such construction, maintenance, repair or
removal, the City shall restore the premises to the condition in which it was found prior to the
commencement of such actions, save only for the necessary removal of trees, brush, undergrowth
and other obstructions, subject only to permanent easement alterations.
The L,andowner, its successors and assigns, does covenant with the City, its successors and
assigns, that it is the owner of the premises aforesaid and has good right to grant and convey the
easement herein to the City.
