Attached is the USP Tech Bulletin on gap testing and load value reductions for trusses not set fully into hanger.
With a 3/4"gap on an "E" truss; the JR-S hanger is inadequate. It should be replaced w/ an "HUS-28° hanger or greater.
The HUS-28 hanger when applied to a 2 x 8 carrying member; with the carried truss in fiill contact has a gravity load
capaciry of 3705#.
With a 3/4" gap at the "E" truss the load value of the HUS-28 hanger is reduced to 30% of gravity load capacity.
Thus 3705# x 30 = 11 ll#. The end reaction of the "E" truss is 10934.
Other options include using a 2-ply 2 x8 carrying member for the HUS-28 hanger to increase carrying capaciry; or use a 2-
ply type of hanger with a filler block added along side of the "E" truss.
You may be able to pick up this hanger at Lamperts yard.
