At your request soil inspections were made at the above referenced lot February 9 and 10,
1998- On February 9, a deep pit was examined at the location where your enyineers, James
R. Hill, Inc. have a designed a storm water sal drain. The pit, dug to a depth of nine feet from
a ground eievation shown on the certificate of survey to be at 941.2 feet, and hand auger
probed an additwnal finro feet, showed loamy sand with gravel consistent with dapth, and no
indication of ground water. Based upon this inspection, we telephoned Greg Knutson, City of
Eagan Engineering Department and reported that the soil would be adequate for the soil drain
as designed.
(_?n February 10, we inspected dhe excavation for the proposed twin home. The inspection
showed that a soil fill had been placed at this property in what appeared to be a small
undrained swale or pothole toward the rear of the lot. Test pits dug by your excavating
contractor for soil inspection showed that the site had not been properly cleaned out before
the fi0 was ptaced. Approximately 9 inches of organic clay topsoil down to an elevation of
about 938 was found along with buried wood and stumps. A horizon of gray, firm silt deposit
was found below the topsoil. Also, some areas af flA were found to be only loosely
compacted, therefore we recommend that the fitl be removed, unsatisfadory soils removed
8nd that the fill he relayed, compacted and densiy tested.
This corrective grading work was perFormed to our satisfaction. Soit density test results will be
reported separately.

buildings prior to instailation, and shall not withhold issuance of building permits for buildings
containing certified building components which;in all other respects comply with the codes.

layout of the specific building to be manutactured and instalied wherein the
manufacturer references the building, building systems, or building component
approvals of the evaluation agency. Such schematic fioor plan layouts and typical
elevations need not include sections, construction details, or structural, plumbing;
'mechanical, and electricaf layouts or details typicai to the building, building systems,
and building component approvals of the evaluation agency. These schematic plans
need not be prepared by or sealed by an architect or engineer.
(3) Detailed plans shall be prepared for any site-built construction related to tfie)

installation of the industrialized/modular buiidings or building components. The plans
shall be sealed by an architect or engineer if the participating State's law requires it
in connection with the type of building involved. Nothing herein shali be construed
to limit the issuance of partial permits, such as footing and foundation permits, where
permitted by the code.

components upon, or promptly after, installation at the building site to determine whether all
site-built work is in accordance with the plans filed with-the permit application, the installaEion

system, and a visual inspection for obvious nonconformity with the approved plans or the -

The following procedures need to be followed in detail for the setting of all
units.
1. Tnspect product thoroughly for damage during transport; note any
damage on trucker's paperwork and on inspection report.
2. Verify foundation dimensions.
3. Get acknowledgement that set crane is on site or in route.
k. Detach unit from uailer.
5. String cables through house for lifting.
6. Attach cables to crane, verify with crane operator loads and distance to
set.
7. Review cable placement, be sttre unit will be lifted to properly set in
place.
8. Test cable placement; then again zeview to make sure the load is
secure before leaving Crailer.
9. Make sure foundation is ready to receive house, and have the
adjustable posts laid out attd ready to be placed.

Dear Mr. Gunderson:
At your request soil inspeetions were made at the above referenced bt February 9 and 10,
1998- On February 9, a deep pit was examined at the location where your enyineers. James
R. Hill, Inc. have a designed a storm water soil drain. The pit, dug to a depth of nine feet from
a ground elevation shown on the certificate of survey to be at 941.2 feet, and hand auger
probed an additional two feet, showed loamy sand with gravel consistent with depth, and no
indication of ground water. Based uQon this inspection, we telephoned Greg Knutson, City of
Eagan Engineering Department and reported tfiat the soil would be adequate for the soil drain
as designed.
On February 10, we inspected the excavation for the proposed twin home. The inspection
showed that a soil fiB had been placed at this property in what appeared to be a smalf
undrained swale or pothole toward the rear of the lot. Test pits dug by your excavating
contractor for soil inspection showed that the site had not been properly cleaned out before
the fill was ptaced. Approximatery 9 inches of organic clay topsoil down to an elevation of
about 938 was found along with buried wood and stumps. A horizon of gray, firm silt deposit
was found below the topsoil. Also, some areas of fill were found to be only loosely
compacted, therefore we recommend that the fitl be removed, unsatisfactory soils removed
and that the f+ll be relayed, compacted and density tested.
This corrective grading work was perFormed to our satisfaction Soil density test results will be
repoRed separately.
