This letter is a continuation to our request dated October 3, 1997. Revised plans submitted to our
office on October 20, 1997 need to meet the following requirements:
1. Please submit an adequate civil plan - contact John Gorder, Engineering Department,
with any questions you may have.
2. Classification of the wazehouse portion of the building should be classified "S=3".
1 Occupancy separation between "5-3" and "B" will require a one-hour separation - Table
3-B.
4. Because of the warehouse storage height, a fire suppression system shall be installed in
the building and comply with other requirements set forth by UFC Table 81.1 OSA.
5. The plywood floar designed as flooring for the equipment mezzanine is not allowed in a
Type II-N building.
6. If no use af, or parking of vehicles will occur within the building, the requirement for air
ventilation will be waived if we are provided a letter by the owner in this regard.
7. Bathroom walls and floor must be designed to meet criteria of Sections 807.1.1 and
807.1.2. In addition, review Section 2512 concerning use of W-R gypsum in water
closets.
8. The "ships ladder" design for the mezzanine level is not acceptable in that it must comply
with Sections 1006 and 603.4.

The above referenced structure is a tall single span structure approximately 30 feet in height
constructed in concrete double "T's" all around. The building is being remodeled at the office
area located at the southeasterly quadrant. Guy Engineering Corporation was retained to
evaluate the structure and conditions for addition of three new windows at the south side of the
office area where windows previously exist.
As noted above this structure is constructed with concrete double "T's". The structural reinforcing
for the "T's" Is located in the vertical webs. The flat surface which is in this case located at and
provides the vertical interior wall surface is relatively thin and contains only temperature
reinforcing rnesh. Preexisting windows four feet square exist at both the mezzanine level and the
main level. Three new windows are to be added. Two windows to be added at the mez;t-anine
level and one window to be added at the main level. The windows are identical in size as those
in the original construction.
Based on our observations of the building and training and experience, it is our opinion that the
four foot square windows can be cut into the existing concrete double "T's" on center as the
