The comments are in italics and the responses are in bold. Comments: 1. Provide details that verify compliance with section 404.1 of the 2009 Minnesota State Mechanical Code (MSMC). The MSMC, chapter 4, table 403.3, occupancy classification `STORAGE' indicates to use the most appropriate of either `Repair Garages' -or-- `Enclosed Parking Garages' and the shop area of the Discount Tire Store is more appropriately a Repair Garage. Section 404.1 is particular to Enclosed Parking Garages. The ventilation requirements for the Repair Garage are met by the following methods: 1. The shop only removes and installs tires, never engine diagnosis or repair. Vehicles are not stored or parked inside overnight. An overhead door is opened, a vehicle is driven inside and shut-off and the vehicle is not started again until time to be moved back out through the open overhead door. 2. Section 402 `Natural Ventilation' is complied with by large operable doors to the exterior. The openable area minimum (4% of floor area) is exceeded. 3. The shop has 4 roof mounted ventilation fans with individual on /off toggle control when additional ventilation through openable doors is desired by shop occupants. These fans are capable of moving more than 3 CFM per square foot of shop floor area. 4. The City of Eagan no longer accepts Comcheck energy calculations.
