Verify that the foam insulated coolers/freezers comply with' the provisions of U.B.C., section 1712(b), item 3. 12. If the intent is to avoid installing the automatic sprinkler system which is normally required by U.B.C., section 3802(c), by separating certain accessory portions of the building from the main assembly use in order to reduce the total unseparated area to less than 5,000 sq. ft., then: (1) doors No. 117B, 121 and 123 must be protected by one-hour 5re-resistive assemblies - U.B.C. 503(c) (undercutting doors as noted on sheet M3 might void the conditions of listing on same); (2) fire dampers shall be installed where ducts penetrate the occupancy separation - U.B.C. 43060); and (3) penetrations must be sealed with materials capable of preventing the passage of flames and hot gasses when subjected to the requirements of ASTM standard E-814 - U.B.C., section 4304(e). 13.
