Dear Mr. Johnson:
A recent review of our records foimd that the State Surcharae fee on Plumbing Permit
41665 dated 7/10/00 was incorrectly calculated when submitted to the City of Eagaii for
processin? (see copy attached). The State Surcharge you paid was $40.00 when you only
owed 50 cents. As a result, we are sending you the enclosed refund check in the amount
of 39.50.
State Surcharge is calculated at 50 cents per $1,000 Base Fee. Lookin; at the application,
you will see that the Base Fee is $800; therefore, the State Surcharge is 50 cen[s
(minimum fee). If, and when, the Base Fee exceeds $1,000, then add 50 cents for each
S1,000. In other words, if your permit comes to $2,000, you would owe a 5urcharge of
$1.00 (or 50 cents per 51,000). On future permits, if you are unsure about calculating
State Surcharge, please do not hesitate to call our office at 651-681-4675 and we will be
happy to assist you.
Effective Januaiy 2001, the City of Eagan no longer refunds overpayments of $50.00
or less.

We have completed our review of the conshuction documents submitted in pursuit of obtaining a building
permit for the above-referenced project. This review is not intended to be an exhaustive and
comprehensive report. Unless otherwise noted, all references aze to the 1997 U.B.C. It is our goal that
this review will help you in complying with the applicable codes and we ue, therefore, requesting that the
following items be addressed.
The accessible parking spaces must have access aisles as required in the Minnesota Accessibility
Code 1341.0403, Item E Subitem (2) for vans and 1341.0428, Subpart 3 for cars.
2. Please provide a fire protecrion plan on floppy disk and 8 1/2 x 11 formats; see enclosed sample.
3. Please provide complete drawings for the bleachers. Verify compliance with UBC, Section 1008
for aisle widths, handrails, etc. and MSBC Section 1341.0482 for wheelchair seating.
4. ff altemate meeting room #2103 is constructed, be advised that the exiring provided will only
support an occupant load of 49 per UBC, Table 10A.
5. Please provide countertop space at the Information Desk not less than 36 inches in width and not
more than 36 inches in height. See MSBC Section 1341.0720.

The City of Eagan Public Works has completed a review of the Civil Plans for the above-referenced building permit, and
offer the attached comments for revision and re-submittal. Please make the following revisions and submit a pdf or
AutoCAD file of any revised civil plan sheets. Once acceptable, I can print the revised plan sheets and add them to the

• The plan currently shows log rolls for erosion control. This site is directly adjacent to Thomas Lake, so it
is critical no material leave the construction area and enter the lake. Please replace or add additional
erosion control measures sufficient to contain this site.

The City of Eagan Public Works has completed a review of the Civil Plans for the above-referenced building permit,and
offer the attached comments for revision and re-submittal. Please make the following revisions and submit a pdf or
AutoCAD file of any revised civil plan sheets. Once acceptable, I can print the revised plan sheets and add them to the

1. Erosion Control
• The plan currently shows log rolls for erosion control. This site is directly adjacent to Thomas Lake, so it
is critical no material leave the construction area and enter the lake. Please replace or add additional
erosion control measures sufficient to contain this site.
�Retaining Wall
• Provide detail for construction of the retaining wall to be installed on the northern side of the site. The
City of Eagan requires any walls over 4' in height be engineered.
