I am writing this letter in response to the City Council meeting of May 7, 1996, I was not able to
attend this meeting, but if I would have known this issue (No Parking signs on McCarthy Rd.)
was automatically going to be denied because I was not in aYtendance and such humor among the
boatd members at Mr. Sprick remark, I would have made whatever arrangements necessary in
order to attend. Had I known the protocol for this issue coming before the board I would have did
things in a complete and legal cycle. I would like to know why my letter addressing this issue was
sent to eight (8) neighbors involved but I was not privy to Mr. Sprick's letter and petiuon before
the meeting? The city council and Mr. Sprick seem to be side stepping the issue of my request, it
is not speed on McCarthy Rd. I was addressing the visibility. I did watch the board meeting
Wednesday on the cable channel and I have to commend Mr. Colbert's effoRs to portray a clear
picture of the visibility problem. Let me also point out the city does not have a problem with snow
removal on McCarthy Rd. because of the fact that there in no parking in winter months, also Mr.
Sprick commented of the speed issue of people flying over the hill, the issue is not speed it is
visibility! Maybe there has not been enough or any accidents at this location but I am sure anyone
living in this area is awaze of the hazard of speed at that location. I was not speeding at the time
of my close encounter I was applying my brakes because of the fact I coutd not see oncoming
traffia l could not see over the hill, which is why it is so important not to haue any vehicles
parked on that area of McCarthy Rd..
I am happy to hear that it is convenient for Mr. Sprick to pazk his vehicle on the street and he
feeis that his family is safe because of it, but it is harder to see a child run in front of or from
behind a parked vehicle.
In closing may I point out that my husband and I are also going to pay a$ 3,200.00 assessment
"for that chunk of road." I also hope the city council re-considers this proposal and deals with the
problem at hand of VISIBILTI'P not SPEED on McCarthy Rd..
