Its modu- lar design can accommodate from 1 to 4 independent suppression systems. In i[s simplest configuration, the system providesinput and output functions to protect one hazard area. Additional hazard areas can be pro- tected by adding detection circuit or suppression control boards. All detec- tion zones are field selectable for Class A or Class B supervision of field wiring. The suppression control sequence is programmable, providing flexibility for a wide variety of applications. Power supplies are available in 2.75 and 4 Amp versions, and can be added to the system for up to 6 Amps capacity at 24 VDC. Auxiliary relay boards can be added easily to the system for additional control functions such as HVAC shutdown and door holder release. The following components are availa- ble for the Gemini Controls Suppres- sion Control System: Power Supply Power supplies are offered in two versions: • 2.75 Amp rated outpul at 24 VDC Irom 120 VAC, 60 Hz input • 4 Amp reted output at 24 VDC from 120 or 240 VAC, 50 or 60 Hz input Both power supplies feature advanced switching circuitry for increased system reliability. The switching power supply circuitry responds immediately to voltage surges and current overloads for sys- tem protection. The power supply output is automatically regulated in the event of current overload. The power supply has "brown ouY" protection in the event of low or total AC power loss. Transfer to battery occurs automatically when AC volt- age is less than required for operation of the system. A trouble signal alerts the operator that normal AC opera- tion has been interrupted. When AC power is restored, the system will resume normal operation. During AC operation, the system provides battery charging current at a constant rate to maintain battery level at 27.6V. The battery circuit is fully supervised for low voltage, shorts, defective cells, reversed polarity, and disconnected or missing batteries. A ground fault monitoring circuit provides visual LED indication if cur- rent leakage irom 24 VDC, logic volt- age, or system negative to earth ground is greater than 5 mA. All supervised input and output circuits are monitored for ground fault conditions. Vellow LED indicators are provided on the power supply circuit board for ground fault condition and battery circuit trouble. The Power Supply/Battery Charger Board has provisions for optional bat- tery voltage and charging current plug-in meters. Common Control Board The Gemini Controls Common Control Board monitors and controls all functions common to the entire system. In addition, this board fea- tures two class A or B detection cir- cuits for alarm only functions and a Class B audible output circuit. The audible output circuit is acti- vated during any system alarm, and can be silenced by the "Alarm Silence" switch. The alarm will resound in the event of subsequent alarm conditions. Each new alarm condition must be silenced separately. WALTER KIDDE oivision ar K'iooe. inc. GEMINI SUPPRESSION CONTROL SYSTEM FIELD WIRING DIAGRAM FIELO MIRING SHONN IS TYPICAL. In-Place Sensitivity and Alarm Testing Flashing LED for Yisual Supervision Base Options tor Supplementary Relay, and/or Remote LED, 2-Wire and 4-Wire Applications DESCRIPTION Models PSD-7125, -7126, -7129 and -7130 are four photoelectronic smoke detec[ors designed to accommodate the known spectrum of field application variations. These photoelectronic smoke detectors will respond to a broad range of both flaming and smoldering fire conditions. Improved long-term scability and smoke entry characteristics are achieved through the use of a cusrom MSI integrated circuit that features multi-stage amplification. These models operate over an 18 to 32VDC range (24V nominal) with the Gemini, Mercury and KPS-7000 control panels. EMI/RFI noise immunity up to 20 volts/meter assures virtual elimination of false alarms from electrical interference. High signal-to-noise ratio permits a significant reduction in light baffling, thereby improving smoke entry characteristics while reducing nuisance alarms. These photoelectronic smoke detectors are Iherefore ideal for fire alarm and suppression systems service. Detector sensitivity is nominally set at 3%/tt. and can be measured in place using a commercially available peak and hold voltmeter. Voltage readings obtained can then be correlated to percent per foot smoke obscuration on a linear basis. Photoelectronic Smoke Detector PSD-7125 (Standard) PSD-7126 (With Thermal Detector) PSD-7129 (quct Applications) PSD-7130 (Alarm Verification Type) Tnree separate detection identifications are required for alarm confirmation. This three-level detection sequence reduces nuisance alarms. Each identification is made at either 2- or 4-second intervals as indicated in Table i. Digital s[orage of the previcus idemifications provides positive and relizole detection. Model PSD-7726 includes a thermal detector with a 135° F set point. Operation oF the contact-rype thermal detector is independent of smoke decector circuitry. Functional testing is accomplished by means of a magnet which causes an alarm condition. This simulates the UL 60io smoke tesL Under alarm condition, the puising LED will switch to a steady red illumination. Installation is both simple and fast because of screw type connections and the nonpolarized detector feature. The detector is fitted to the base by a twist- to-lock action. A removable locking tab secures the head to the base ro provide a degree of vandal resistance. An extra- fine mesh insect screen protecting the chamber area reduces potential nuisance alarms. PhotoelecVOnic detectors may be interchanged with ionization detectors and rate compensated heat detectors when using multi-function base configurations. Optional bases are shown under Detector Base Options. TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS Input Voltage Range: 78-32VDC Max. The micro- motor operates with a low starting voltage and extremely low current consumption. The mech- anism is compietely enclosed in an aluminum die cast housing and can be used either out- doors or indoors, by using the appropriate back box. Has four wires for code in-out wiring. AL-VB Series bells employ die-cast aluminum parts. Can be used indoors or out of doors when using the appropriate back box. The coils are well insulated and are electrically isolated as are the heavy-duty interrupting contacts. This adds to reliability and insures long-term per- formance. Has four wires for code in-out wiring. The AL-MTR Series Fire Alarm Bell is an under- dome, Motor Driven Bell for indoor use in Fire Alarm Systems. Installs very easily with a hang- ing bracket 2 part assembly and wires to a ter- minal block rather than pigtails. The mounting plate fits both single and two gang back boxes.
