RE: 2120 Shale Lane — Building Code Violations
Dear Carol or David
On September 1, 2009, the City of Eagan Building Inspections Division performed an
inspection of 2120 Shale Lane. There were numerous Building Code violations visible
during our inspection
• There are no footings for the stairway to the second floor and landing.
• The deck did not receive footing inspection
• Plumbing is not Code compliant into non - footing heated areas and additional
spaces
• There is no heating system in the addition above the garage
• Unit heater in garage is not allowed per Building Code.
• There is a second kitchen present and a Secondary Kitchen Certificate has not been
filed with Dakota County
• The shed on the property is required to be five (5) feet away from the property line.
• The stucco is not applied to the house per manufacturer's specifications.
• There is mold present on the basement walls that needs to be completely removed
and cleaned
• The floor trusses that overhang the wall line above are not flashed correctly
• Please verify that electrical work has been inspected by calling Mark Anderson,
State Electrical inspector, at (952) 445 -2840
The above items may not be a complete list of Building Code issues to be addressed More
items may be uncovered upon further inspection
As you are aware, the 2120 Shale Lane is currently uninhabitable. You may not occupy the
home until the Code violations are addressed, permits issued and inspections completed
Please submit permit applications and 2 sets of detailed plans.
Thank you in advance for your attention to these items. If you have any questions
concerning this letter, please call me at (651) 675 -5679
Sincerely,
Terry Zelenka
Building Inspector
