A regular meeting of the Advisory Park Committee was n1d on October 14,
1976 at the City II111 at 7:30 p.m. Those present mre Lundeten, Thurston,
Coates, Cooper, Beck, Martin, Roseak. A /so present were Schmidt, Voss, Dodges
end Hauge.
MINUTES. The minutes of the previous meeting were read by Secretary
T:_u s`.,n. Upon notion Martin, sncond.ed Coates, all members voting yes, it was

NORM -TIM Nl',c4T^E AREA.. Mr. Devid B1oxham, the Ncrt hv ew School PTA Pray;
dent, appeared and reported concerning the improvements of the nature center at
ITorthview School. He requested ideas frcri the Park Committee for expan_sion of
the project and indicated that the PTA has been financing all of the costs t:
date, but an attempt will be made through the school district to get financial
assistance.
WILDEPPTE S RUN AREA. The Park Committee went over the recommendations of
John Voss concerning dedication for park purposes to complete the Wilderness Rur.
2nd, 4th, 5th and 6th Addition requirements. Arnold Carlson was also present
and there was an extended discussion concerning the possibility of acquiring a
trail easement around the North side of Carlson Lake. Mr. Carlson stated that
a trail would seriously detract from the salability of those lots and objected
to the dedication. He also stated that there is a potential dedication of a
portion of a three acre parcel owned by Ruth Ann Carlson at some time ie the
future, lying West of Carlson Lake. He offered the dedication at 1.47 acres in
two parcels on the North side of the Lake which would give access to Carlson Lske
from the East and the 9 :st. There was extended discussion concerning the various
alternatives and a recommendation was made to the City Council according to a
memorandum attached to these minutes.
The recommendetion includes the dEedication of 1.47 acre, apereeximately 3

CARNELIAN PARK SnTING RINK, Barbara Schmidt indicated that the Council
authorized the Park Maintenance Department to proceed with grading improvements
in Carnelian Park for the skating rink.
BLACKHAFT PARK. Hrs. Schmidt further stated that two lots adjacent to Black-
hawk Park near the entrance are being graded on a cooperative basis between the
property owners and the City.

Upon motion by Thurston, seconded Beck, all members voting yes, it was
RE6OLVED to recommend acceptance of the proposal submitted by the staff.

updating information on proposed parks; and further RESOLVED that urban Planning

in Section 14. All members voted yes.
VO!,LEY'ALL PROGRAM. The Park Director discussed the volleyball program at
Pilot Kno:', Northview and Metcalf schools and indicated that there has been very
favorable reeep. ion ant attendance to date.
FORSS TRAIT'S IN PARKS, There was extended discussion concerning uesignatirg

study the matter in more detail and report to the Park Committee.
