With the recent upgrading of Pilot Knob Road adjacent to your west property line, a 6" City water lateral was constructed from the west side of Pilot Knob Road to your northwest corner for future extension down Rocky Lane to service the Skovdale Addition #2. A copy of this extension is enclosed for your reference. However, this is a "dead" system which is valved off at its connection to the water main in Pilot Knob Road. Therefore, although a City water main currently exists immediately adjacent to your northwest corner approximately 28' from your house corner, that system is not active and not available for a private water service connection. Subsequently, there are only two alternatives available for obtaining City water to this property. The first would be to auger an individual water service to the existing active City water main along the western-most southbound lane of Pilot Knob Road. This would require a water service of approximately 100' and a permit from the Dakota County Highway Department to open-cut Pilot Knob Road to make the connection. Due to the extra ordinary cost associated with auguring this water service and the reluctance of Dakota County to issue the required permits, this is not considered a feasible alternative for obtaining water service.
