As they exist currently, they are a significant traffic and sightline hazard. The challenge that motorists have seeing oncoming traffic obscured by the trees will only become worse as the trees mature and continue to grow. Attached to this letter is a drawing showing what the City uses as a guideline in order to assure safe sightline visibility at comers for the traveling public and some digital pictures of the trees. I would like to set up a meeting with you at your convenience to try to determine what we might do to remedy the situation. While it is not our intent to destroy existing landscaping located in/on City Right of Way, we do want to make our roads as safe as possible. Hopefully we can work out a plan to alter the trees or their positions that will be acceptable. Russ Matthys, City Engineer, and I visited the site and determined that your concerns for the existing situation being a potential safety hazard were justified. After checking the drainage situation we determined the existing inlet could be plugged, with the understanding that the adjacent catch basin should remain in working order and that when the adjoining property to the south develops the inlet may need to be utilized. Plans must be submitted to the City's engineering department for approval before installing a lawn sprinkler system. If digging in the boulevard, a right-of-way permit may be required. 2.
