SPECIFICATIONS
The contractor shall provide all necessary labor and materials and. perform all work of every nature
whatsoever to be done in the erection of a residence for
as owner, in accordance with these specifications and accompanying drawings. The location_of. the
residence will be as follows:
GENERAL CONDITIONS
All blank spacer in these specifications that apply to this building are to be flied in. Iterns that do not apply are to be crossed out.
The general conditions herein set forth shall apply to any contract given under these specifications
and shall be binding upon every sub-contractor as well as General contractor.
The plans, elevations, sections and detail drawings, together with these specifications, are to form
the basis of the contract and are to be of equal force. Should anything be mentioned in these speci-
fications and not shown in the drawings, or vice versa, the same shall be followed as if set forth in
both, as it is the intent of these specifications and accompanying drawings to correspond and to
embody every item and part necessary for the completion of the structure. The contractor shall
comply with all health and building ordinances that are applicable.
EXCAVATION AND GRADING
The contractor shall do all necessary excavating and rough grading. The excavation shall be large
enough to permit inspection of footings after the foundation has been completed. All excess dirt
shall be hauled away by the contractor. Black surface loam to be piled where directed by owner for
use in grading. Grade level shall be established by the owner who will also furnish a survey of the
lot showing the location of the building. The finish gradin , seeding, sodding and landscaping shall
be done by the owner unless specified as follows: 7t i2`/
INSURANCE
The contractor will provide liability insurance and workmen's compensation insurance in full until
completion of the building. Fire and windstorm insurance during construction to be provided by
the owner.
EXTRAS OR CREDITS
Any deviation from these specifications or plans involving an extra charge or a credit must be
agreed upon in writing between the contracting parties before the change is made. The contractor
shall'not take advantage of any discrepancies in the drawing and specifications. If any discrepan-
cies are found they shall be referred to the owner or architect and be corrected before any con-
tract is entered into. Dimensions shown in figures, on the drawing, shall take precedence over
scaled dimensions.

CONCRETE FOOTINGS
Concrete footings for walls and piers shall be mixed in the proportion of one part cement,
parts sand and parts gravel. pit run gravel may be used if its proportions of sand and
gravel are as called for. All aggregate shall be clean and sharp and free from organic matter.
Coarse aggregate to pass 1]/,,-inch screen and to be retained upon a 1/4-inch screen.
Footings for walls shall be-? inches thick and inches wider than wall on each
side; pier footings shall be not less than inches square and-.? inches thick. -
BASEMENT WALLS

Shall be inches thick, laid with sufficient slope to drain. If made in one pour, the mixture shall be
the same as for the footings, troweled level and smooth. If made in two pours, the finish coat shall
be one inch thick and shall be of a mixture of one part of cement to two parts of sand.

Cement wall: from curb line to front steps shall be feet wide and inches
thick. Walk from front steps to rear door step shall be feet wide and. /??. . inches
thick. The steps at the front and rear entrances shall be of wood, cement construction as
indicated on the plan. Concrete splash blocks shall or shall not be furnished.
CHIMNEYS
Chimneys shall be constricted of common brick with face brick top unless otherwise shown. The
footings shall be concrete. The size of the flues shall be as shown. All mortar drippings shall be
cleaned from flues leaving them uniform in size from top to bottom. All flues shall be properly lined
with vitrified flue lining extending from the footing. Thimbles shall be placed as directed and cast-
