To construct an open sided carport to cover a boat. Structure will be approximately 12' wide and
20' long and attached to the side of the garage.
• Install a ledger board approximately 16' long to the side of the garage. Flash and caulk
with appropriate materials sufficient enough to create a waterproof seal.
• Construct a support post and beam structure to support the joists of the roof. Install frost
footings at least 42" down from grade and 42" in from edge of existing landscaped
terrace. Footing must be at theses minimums to prevent uplift from frost.
• Support posts and beams will be made from 6x6 posts with a double 2 x 12 beam to
support 2x8x12 joists placed 16" on center.
• A double rim joist will be built around the entire perimeter of the structure.
• Roof load is to be 50 lbs per square foot per building code.
*Homeowner will construct the roof deck and install the shingles for this structure.
Mr. Handyman will only construct the frame for this structure.
