As requested by the City of Eagan building inspections, this letter
represenks an addendum to our soil testing report dated March 3, 2006
for work at the referenced residential site.
During backfill testing for a correctinn zone within the basement
slab area of the residence, we were advised that a span-crete garage
deck was to be incorporated within the house design. We therefore
expanded our testing and soil evaluation to include structural
elements within the garage area.
To evaluate soils at garage footing elevation, a 5/8" diameter smooth
probe was used to penetrate soils at razidom adjacent to the footings
at the perimeter and interior foundation walls. With full bady weight
applied, the probes indicated acceptable soil strength, with the
exception of an area near the west end of a interior wall section at
the rea~ of the garage, where the probe exceeded the penetration
average of the other areas evaluated.
To assess the relative loadbearing capaci.ty of the subgrade soils
within the area af increased probe penetration, a dynamic cone
penetrometer test was conducted to a depth of 35.8 inches and
identified as test #1 in our report. In our opinion, the dynamic cone
penetromeker test at 1925 PSF represents soils within a isolated area,
and a aaceptable variance from the minimum target value of 200a PSF.
