So, I called Ulteig and they said the engineering was close to needing the verticals and they usually like to work on a plus safety factor, so they decided to put the vertical steel in. They said the vertical steel was not necessary, if we did not want to use it. So I had them update the drawings with no vertical steel in 8' walls. I am sending you a copy for your file.
