1984 ENERGY CODE REQUZREMENTS
On or about March 1, 1984, the following energy code requirements
' should be calculated and included with a building permit application.
1. Roof - ceiling assemblies - R-38 U= 0.025 Average
2. Exterior walls & rim joists - R-20 U= 0.11 Average
3. Floors over unheated spaces - R-20 U= 0.05 Average
4. Exterior overhangs will be considered as exterior wall.
5. Foundations (all exterior walls) - Minimum of R-5 insulation.
6. All insulated areas must be separated from the heated space
by a well-lapped or sealed vapor barrier with a minimum perm
rating of 0.1. A 9 mil. polyethlene sheet or equivalent meets
this requirement.
A Kraft face R-19 type insulation will be accepted in the rim joist
areas. Air chute baffles are to be placed in every rafter space.

APPLICATION SUMMARY: An application has been submitted by Robert and Michelle
Haugan requesting a 12'6" Variance to the required 30' setback from public right-of-way
located at 1113 Westbury Path.
COMMENTS: Lot 6, Block 3, Westbury lst Addition, is a comer lot and as such, has 30'
setbacks on two sides. The applicants are proposing an approxdmately 14' x 20' room
addition on the east side of their home facing Westbury Lane and are requesting the 12'6"
Variance based on having two 30' setbacks to meet and minimizing the loss of a portion of
their two-tier landscaped deck.
In addition, the applicant who built this home in 1985 feels that they would rather not move
to another house, but stay in the home they bui]t in a neighborhood they enjoy and where
their two children can attend the new Glacier Elementary School. They feel the addition, '
leaving 17'6" from the property line and 27'6" from the curb will not appear to be
overpowering along Westbury Lane. The exosting house and accessory structures meet/exceed all setback requ'uements.
If approved, this Variance shall be subject to the fol]owing:
1. Obtaining necessary building permiu from the protective inspections department.
2. Al1 other applicable City Code requirements.
