On March 1 I verified the conatnict;on of the addition and provided recommendations for the over-framing of the existing roof trusscs Our inspection and analyeis is limited to t6e items metrtioned. The window headers span a rough opening of 4'-9 and support 30 feet o£roof uusses with a 2 foot overhang. Our analysis has indicated that a 3 I S.P.F. iE2 2x10 with 1 Y~' of bearin~e on each side w~ med ilding code requuements for load cerrying capacity. Eadier this morning I vaified that the headers have been modified m our specifications. With regard to the over-framing, I suggested to install 2x4 sleeoers directly onto the pcisting lower roof, aligned with the new 2x4 roofjoists, with 2x4 posts beYweens ~d aboat 4 feet on certter to transfer thc [oad from the new roof to the existing or lower one. fn t e casc w ere t~e sleepers aze perpendiwlar to the existing fiaming the transfer posts should be between the two lower trusses or over-framing_ Tn the case where there a muhiplc layers of overv&aming each layer should have its own slcepers and posts. The existing dormer did not have sleepers and posts therefore I suggested they be added. My ins ection this moming has ver"~ed that the over-framing has been carried out ui a snit8ble manner to sa v Ve~ a~ns er the Ioads from the new roof to the existing or lower roofs.
