Our design follows thie equirements of the Minnesota State Building Code and the International Residential rode, 2006 edition. This includes a floor live load of 40 psf, a floor dead load of 15 psf, a wind load of 90 mph exposure B. The new joists arc 2x12 at 16" o.c. with a maximum span of 6'-0"t. The minimum bear/ r uired on each end is 1.0" using the calculated reaction for each joist and the required bearing area ec`u tion in 2005 NDS. For the brace wall requi ents, the office walls is 9'-9 V2- long and has sheathing of 16" at each comer. It is my opinion that sheathing this wall with Y4 APA rated exterior sheathin meets the inten of the brace wall section of the wilding code.
