I wanted to thank you a11 again for your attendance this morning as weli as your personal
insight on potential solutions to the 25% impervious issue that my building permit is .
facing within the City of Eagan's requirements. I am heartened that we identified some
good ideas that will alleviate everyone's concern as well as a11ow my building pernit to
quickly move through approval so that we can begin construction of our home.
As a result and as we discussed in the meeting today, Dean, Brenda (my
wife) and I are pledging to the City of Eagan to at a minimum install a pervious driveway
(most likely pavers) for my nearly 1,000 square foot driveway as a minimum solution to
keep us well within the 25% calculation (which we currently fa11 outside o£ by under 500
square feet). We wi11 also ensure that our documents submitted to the City for approval
reilect this fact. We also are very willing to look at a potential additional step or
alcernative concept like installing a cistern which will collect water from our lot/roof
to be used later by our irriqation system. We understand that this alLernative and pledge
comnits us to an expense (including a minimum ot following the manufacturer recommended
engineerinq and installation guidelines for pervious pavers), which may Guali£y £or some
County grant assistance, but that grant and variance wi11 only effect our ultimate
decision on to what degree to implement the various potential solutions. However, in no
way will the qrant/variance determination remove our obligation to implement a solution to
get our lot within the 25% impervious calculation. Finally, we also grant the City/County
the right to work on our behal£ Lo collect samoles/data, develoo viable solutions, be on
the noted lot as well as potentially photograph the 1ot/process so that it can help us
obtain compliance and possibly later utilize everythinq to promote the environmental
agenda of the City/County.
I hope this email helps everyone's comfort and efforts and please let us know what else we
can do to ensure that the building permit obtains timely approval. Tnanks again.
