AV E. S.. 5 U 1 T E B2 "tall wall" assemblies at the Fanuly Room and Foyer for the referenced
residence. Information regazding the framing at these locations was taken
s r. r Au L. M N from the construction documents prepazed by Toll Architechue,
dated 2-15-06. The following aze our comments and recommendations for
5 s1 os -izeo thesewalls:
1. 2-2x6 wall studs at 16" on center are adequate structurally for the
side wa11s at the Family Room (Elevafion 2/A-7A) and 2x6 wall
sriids at 16" on center are adequate for the end walls at the Family
Room and Foyer (Elevations 1/A-7A aud 3/A-7A).
2. Some wall stud configurations a# beam bearmg conditioris ar•e ns4
adequate. We have provided recommendations Fpr framing at these
]ocaNotvs (see I/A-7A, 2/A-7A and 3JA-7A attached).
3. Note ttiat the stud framing shown on the current construcrion
documents and in our recommendations for the Family Room and
Foyer have a maximum deflection ratio of span/180 under wind
loading per ASCE Standazd 7-98. Tf?is deflection does not cause a
concera regarding the strucmral performance of the &aming, but we
cannot comment on the performance of the ezterior/interior finishes.
It is the responsibility of the Architect and Owner to verify the effects
of the lateral movement on the proposed finishes with the finish
suppliers.
MisceAaneous Item
During our review of the stud wal] framing we noted the roof design snow
ioad of 30 PSF in the chart on Sheet A-43. This load should be 38.5 PSF
per the Minnesota State Building Code.
