At your request we have performed a struchual analysis of the 5 T. P A V L, M N "tall wall" assemblies at the Family Room and Foyer for the referenced residence. Information regazding the framing at these locarions was taken s s 1 o 5 -1 z e o from the construction documents prepared by To11 Architecture, dated 5-8-06 and 5-12-06. The following are our comments and recommendarions for these walls: 2x6 wall studs noted are adequate structurally. 2. Some wall stud configurations at beam bearing condiaons are not adequate. We have provided recommendations for framing at these locations (see 2/A.7.08.B, 4/A.7.08.B and 5/A.7.08.B attached). 3. Note that the stud fi-aming shown on the current consWction documents and in our recommendations for the Family Room and Foyer have a maximum deflection ratio of span/ 180 under wind loading per ASCE Standard 7-98. This detlection does not cause a concem regazding the structural performance of the framing, but we cannot comment on the performance of the exterior/interior finishes. It is the responsibility of the Architect and Owner to verify the effects of the laterai movement on the pmposed finishes with the finish suppliecs. Please call with any questions or comments.
