This letter is in response to concems you have with the day-care facility at 3611 Wescott Hills Drive:
1. Pront entry - The sidwalk leading from the "front" public way to the main enuance of the
dwelling unit has a series of cast-in-place concrete slabs that aze greater than 36" in depth
(with changes in elevation of less than 8") and as such do not meet the definition of being
a"stairway" under the provisions of Section 3306(a), Stairways, of the 1991 Uniform
Building Code.
2. Sleepine azea - Every sleeping room shall have at least one operable window or door
approved for emergency escape or rescue which shall open directly into a yazd. I informed
Ms. Ashton that the sleeping azea presently being used for day-care does not meet this
requirement and could be corrected in one of two ways: 1) by installing an egress window
in the room; or 2) by increasing the door size into the play azea to 6'.
