The residence is a walkout single family dwelling, near complete and fully enclosed. The foundation is of treated wood construction. The hasement slab was in place but garage slab was yet to be poured. The lot sloped rapidly to a ravine at the rear of the house in the south. The house and garage footinqs appear to be on natural ground based on native ground geography and the base of egisting trees. However, there appears to be approsimately 4' of fill under the basement slab suggested by height of eaposed foundation wall at rear of house. A 4' hand auger boring was taken at the southwest house corner at an elevation approgimately 2h' below basement slab. Material consisted of fill, ranging from dark loams to light sandy clay, some evidence of saow and frozen soile at 2h'. The hand auger boring and elevation at rear of lot verified that no ground water esisted within 4' of basement slab. The soils in the garage were a sandy clay, consistent with those used for backfill at the front of the house. A 4h' hand auger boring was taken in the front of the garage on center at proposed elab elevation. The soil remained uniform and below optimum moisture but very soft at 2h' - 4' with little resietance to pressure applied to probe. The material as observed in the garage area is aot suitable for slab placement and will require reworking and compaction tests. Entrance through basement slab should also be provided for compaction testing of fill placemed under slab within foundation area.. This report is based on visible data observed at time of inspection. The determination of soil bearing pressure or soil conditions at depth are beyond the scope of this inspection. Therefore, we cannot warrant the site against loss due to underlying soil conditions.
