We looked at a homemade add -on woodburner that Mr. Holey had built. Tested and
approved woodburners comply with the standards listed below, unapprov wood -
burners do not.
1. Unless approved, only one appliance allowed per chimney.
2. Approved appliances give distances from duct work to combustibles.
3. Approved appliances (woodburners) give distance for location of installation.
4. Some add-on woodburners have automatic shut down (in case of overheating).
My suggestion was to contact various testing agencies to see if they could test
this appliance. Testing or further information would be needed to insure that
the Holey's have a woodburner that is minimally safe.
I do recommend that this woodburner not be used until the above standards can be
met.
