Terri Harmening Administration Jesus Celebration Center 952-905-0700 terriharmening@comcast.net 2 Date: 05-19-10 Request of Cedar Valley Church Jesus Celebration Center is requesting the use of some land on the west side of the church for the use of planting a garden. We are requesting permission to remove the grass in an area no larger than $ox5o feet maximum. We will place a border of mulch around the edge for easy mowing. A community compost pile will be implemented for the disposal of weeds. No trash will be allowed in the pile. Short stakes will be added to the garden and rope be used to designate individual plots. We are committed to the maintenance — including, but not limited to, planting, watering, weeding, harvesting and proper clean up. We would like to keep the ground open and be permitted to add compost to the ground at the end of the year for the following year at the approval of Cedar Valley Church. We are requesting the use of the land for this year and would like the opportunity to discussion the continuation and possible expansion of the project in years to come. We are requesting the use of water. Jesus Celebration Center will supply their own hose and tools. We request that no chemicals be used near the garden to treat the grass that would harm the plants or contaminate the produce. We committe to follow all city regulations and ordinances. We will be charging a minimum fee that is not for profit but for the cost the overall plot (i.e., rental of tillers and equipment to maintain the ground. In addtion a deposit is part of the fee to ensure participants to finish the clean up by October 31. Date: 05 -19 -to Garden bylaws Governance A board will be elected each year to make decision on behalf of the project. Meetings will be minimal. Sign up One plot per member unless there are extras then people will be drawn out of a bowl to see who will be awarded additional plots. Plots will be assigned on a first come bases at the descretion of the the board. Not is not awarded until all payments are made. Plot corners are clearly marked with stakes. Please do not remove these stakes during the season. Plot cost for a rox2o ft plot is $3o. A $35 cleanup deposit will be refunded after your plot is cleaned in the fall and approved by the garden committee. Each gardener must clear his or her plot of corner stakes, fencing, trellises, string and all inorganic materials before fall close dates. Remove dead plants and temporary structures by the October 3r fall cleanup deadline. Total is $65 due prior to planting. Plots must be planted by lune 20 or you will lose the plot. No refund will be granted. Sale or transfer of a plot assignment is not permitted. Vacated plots will be reassigned per the priority of an established wait list at the direction of the garden committee. Date _..__ ..................................... By having a plot you agree to assist with tasks that will be revealed later. At minimum of 4 hours will be requested during the year. You are to keep your designated site mostly free of weeds and unpleasing odors, sites, etc. If you are warned 2 times, your site will be taken by the board, Dispose of weeds and plant materials in designated compost areas. Do not put rocks, stones in the garden plot. Only plant annual plants, no perennials or herbs, for example, they spread too rapidly and will cause problems next year. Be considerate of your neighbors. Do not plant sprawling crops or tall ones that might interfere with others. Harvest only from your assigned plot. Do not spray on windy days. Keep insects and weeds under control. All plots will be inspected three times. Renters of plots that have not been planted, are weedy, are not watered properly or do not meet the guidelines, will be notified. Failure to respond within 14 days will result in forfeiture of the plot. No refund will be afforded. Using herbicides is prohibited. If If vandalism or theft occurs, notify the garden committee immediately. Help us discourage losses by questioning unfamiliar faces. The garden board, Jesus Celebration Center, Cedar Valley or other gardeners are not responsible for vandelism, thief or injury. Dogs, except those on a leash, are not allowed. Family members are welcome to the garden site. Please supervise young children so they don't disturb other plots. Unattended watering is not permitted. Notify the garden coordinator of any leaks in the water line. Make sure all faucets are off when you leave the garden. Keep hoses neatly rolled up near the water riser. Please conserve the use of water. Mulch with leaves, grass clippings, or hay to reduce water evaporation. No debris of any kind should be left at the site. Use trash receptacles available next to the gardens. Notify garden coordinator if you are no longer able to tend your plot; will be absent for a long period of time; or have asked a friend to tend your garden. Do not drive vehicles over the lawn. Information will be posted on our face book page. If you have any questions, suggestions, or complaints, please contact one of the garden board members. We encourage you to attend our club meetings throughout the ytnr. Your compliance with the above regulations will help everyone have an enjoyable and prosperous garden. Failure to comply with above regulations during the season, may result in a loss of future gardening privileges Crops must be harvested once they are mature. If you do not feel you can use all of them, there are many food banks and senior citizens who could use extra vegetables.
