Zienty RE: Structural Opinion Letter Dear Mr. Zienty: Pursuant to your request referencing the Clearwire site #MN- MSP0221 noted above and S.E.H. review letter dated April 8, 2010 we will address comment #3 with the following: W -T sub - contracted Bowtech to perform a structural analysis on the water tank at the above location. The analysis and details within report dated February 22, 2010 was performed in accordance with AWWA D100 Section 8, Welding and Section 11 and Inspection and Testing. These codes indicate that all attachments shall be welded in accordance to these codes to prevent the possibility of rust streaking. S.E.H. has requested that the proposed antenna attachment to the handrail shall be bolted with a prefabricated crossover plate. It shall also be noted that all new hardware shall be painted to match the existing color of the tank. This bolt -on method is acceptable however it may stand a chance of minimal rust streaking. Based on review of the structural analysis and details within the W -T drawings dated April 19, 2010 it is our opinion that the handrail with crossover plate and mounting pipe attachment, supplemented with the required antenna post reinforcement at points of proposed antenna installation detailed on sheet A -3 detail #2, the handrail is an acceptable application of attachment and is capable of supporting the proposed mounting pipe and antenna. Further it shall be noted that the reinforcement kicker shall be stud - welded in lieu of full weldment all around the plate. Refer to General Notes listed within above mentioned report for Stud weld recommendation comments. I trust this n, P.E Ma ing Partner Minnesota PE #: 26633 Exp.
