As you were informed in previous notices, the City of Eagan is conducting a city -wide
internal residential and commercial property inspection program aimed at reducing
the amount of stormwater and groundwater entering into the metropolitan sanitary
sewer system.. The problem is called Inflow and Infiltration (1 &I).
You were sent formal notices regarding this mandatory inspection and /or required
corrective work order to avoid incurring substantial surcharges to your Utility Bill. Our
records indicate that you have either not yet responded to these notices or complied
with their related repair requirements
On April 30, 2010 you were sent the fi rst "Notice of Surcharge to Utility Bill" informing
you that a surcharge was being applied to your account on the last Thursday of each
month and every month since asking you to contact us. You have now accrued 12
months of surcharges totaling $1,800,00.. These fees will continue to accrue to your
Utility Account until the property is determined to be in compliance with the I &I
program requirements
The inspections and subsequent corrective repairs are necessary to find and eliminate
the sources of these excessive flows as mandated to Eagan by the Metropolitan
Council Environmental Services (MCES)
Inspections and Repairs Are Mandatory
FAILURE TO COMPLY results in substantial fees being added to your
Utility Bill until the property is brought into compliance with City Codes:
$150 /month for Single Family, Duplex, Townhome properties, or
$500 /month for all other properties.
