As you were informed in previous notices, the City of Eagan is conducting a city -wide
internal residential and commercial property inspection program aimed at reducing
the amount of stormwater and groundwater entering into the metropolitan sanitary
sewer system.. The problem is called Inflow and Infiltration (I &I).
On November 23 December 24 and February 7 2011 you were sent formal
notices regarding this mandatory inspection and /or required corrective work order to
avoid incurring substantial surcharges to your Utility Bill Our records indicate that
you have either not yet responded to these notices or complied with their related
repair requirements
You have been sent a "Notice of Surcharge to Utility Bill" informing you that a
surcharge was being applied to your account. You have now accrued 4 months of
surcharges totaling $600 00. These fees will continue to accrue to your Utility Account
until the property is determined to be in compliance with the i &I program
requirements
The inspections and subsequent corrective repairs are necessary to find and eliminate
the sources of these excessive flows as mandated to Eagan by the Metropolitan
Council Environmental Services (MCES)
Inspections and Repairs Are Mandatory
FAILURE TO COMPLY results in substantial fees being added to your
Utility Bill until the property is brought into compliance with City Codes:
$150 /month for Single Family, Duplex, Townhome properties, or
$500 /month for all other properties.
If you believe you should not you are in compliance and should not have received
these surcharges, please contact us so we can correct any misunderstandings or help
you come into compliance with the I &I Program and its related City Code
requirements
