City of Eapil Gina Ramierez 2030 Bluestone Lane Eagan, MN 55122 Wayne Schwanz Superintendent of Utilities November 17, 2010 The City of Eagan is conducting a city -wide internal residential property inspection program aimed at reducing the amount of stormwater and groundwater entering into the metropolitan sanitary sewer system.. The problem is called Inflow and infiltration (I &I)„ Eagan is one of 37 metro communities that pays a surcharge for generating too much stormwater, exceeding plant and pipe capacities and requiring unnecessary treatment by the sanitary sewer system The inspections are necessary to find and eliminate the sources of these excessive flows as mandated to Eagan by the Metropolitan Council Environmental Services (MCES) You are receiving this letter because your property has previously been inspected for our I &I program The inspector looked at how the sump pump, roof downspouts and foundation drains were connected to your private sewer line flowing from your building to the city's sewer main in the street. During that inspection the inspector determined that the sump pump was improperly piped into our sanitary sewer system The previous owner of your home was contacted and told to correct the problem We need to inspect the work that was completed on the sump pump piping for your home to be deemed compliant with the city ordinance. There is NO CHARGE for this inspection. Please contact our Protective Inspections team at 651- 675 -5675 to schedule an inspection, If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Utilities Division at 651- 675 -5200
