RE: Review of Bids — 2094 Quartz Lane, Eagan, MN 55122
September 30, 2010
The City of Eagan Utilities Division has determined, as the result of an inspection performed
on June 21, 2010 at 1pm, your sanitary sewer system is out of compliance with section 3 40 of
City code A baseboard drain tile system (beaver board system) was discovered during the
course of the inspection; this connection must be removed from the sanitary sewer system
As the result of a conversation between Dean McKenzie Sr and James Hauth, of the City of
Eagan Utilities Division on September 30, 2010, this letter is being drafted to reinforce the
points agreed upon and the actions moving forward .
- Mr. McKenzie plans to do the work himself, but is unsure of the costs he will incur The
process described to James Hauth was in line with other bids by contractors and
homeowners Mr McKenzie plans to:
o Close one end of the baseboard water system to remove the connection to
the sanitary sewer system
o Cut out a section in the middle of the baseboard system to create a new
outlet for water that seeps through the foundation
o Install a floor drain and 8' of piping directed to a sump basin
o Pipe water outside using rigid piping
- Mr McKenzie will obtain a permit before starting, and have the piping inspected before
the final concrete is poured to conceal it
- Mr. McKenzie will submit detailed receipts of all material costs, and equipment costs to
complete the project. Detailed receipts are necessary for reimbursement
- Mr.. McKenzie is aware that his time is not reimbursable
