SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING
TUESDAY, APRIL 26, 2011
5:30 P.M.
CONFERENCE ROOMS 2A & 2B – EAGAN MUNICIPAL CAMPUS
I. ROLL CALL AND AGENDA ADOPTION
City Council members present: Mayor Maguire, Councilmembers Bakken, Fields,
Hansen and Tilley.
City Staff present: City Administrator Hedges.
City Councilmember Fields moved, Councilmember Bakken seconded a motion to
approve the agenda as presented.
Aye: 5, Nay: 0
II. VISITORS TO BE HEARD
There were no visitors to be heard.
III. ADVISORY COMMISSION INTERVIEWS
The Mayor and City Councilmembers interviewed 14 Advisory Commission applicants,
and noted that appointments would be made at the May 3, 2010 City Council meeting.
IV. OTHER BUSINESS
The Council discussed their desire to best utilize the talents and skills of the advisory
commission applicants. There was consensus that it would be best to have the option of whether
to appoint alternates to terms, rather than being required to o so as the City’s ordinance states.
The Council directed the preparation of an ordinance amendment for consideration at the May 3,
2011 Council meeting to amend Chapter 2, Section 2.50 (Advisory Commissions and
Committees) by removing language stating that the City “shall” have alternate positions on the
advisory commissions, and instead substitute “may” have alternate positions.
