MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE
EAGAN CITY COUNCIL
Eagan, Minnesota
July 27, 1993
A special City Council meeting was held on Tuesday, July 27, 1993 at 5:00 p.m. In the Eagan
Municipal Center building. Those members present were Mayor Egan and City Councilmembers Awada,
Hunter, Masin and Wachter. Also present were Assistant to the City Administrator Duffy and City
Administrator Hedges. The purpose of the meeting was to conduct final personnel interviews to fill the
vacancy of the Director of Community Development position.
FINAL INTERVIEWS/DIRECTOR OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT POSITION
City Administrator Hedges stated that two (2) candidates had been chosen as finalists for the
position of Director of Community Development and they are Peggy Reichert, Assistant Director of Planning
for the City of Minneapolis, and Tom Harmening, Community Development Director for the City of Hopkins.
He further stated that thorough reference checks had been conducted for both applicants and will be shared
immediately following the interviews.
City Administrator Hedges introduced the first candidate, Peggy Reichert, who was asked a series
of questions by members of the City Council. Immediately following Ms. Reichert's Interview, Mr. Harmening
was presented to the City Council for his interview session.
Following both of the interviews, members of the City Council discussed each of the candidates and
after a lengthy deliberation of approximately two (2) hours, there was a majority consensus that the position
be offered to Peggy Reichert with the understanding that a formal ratification of the appointment would
occur at the August 3, 1993 City Council meeting.
OTHER BUSINESS
There being no other business, the meeting was adjourned at 9:15 p.m.
