Director of Finance/City Clerk VanOverbeke reviewed the mill rate stating that the mill rate is slightly higher than calendar years 1982 and 1983. Mayor Blomquist stated that the reason for the mill rate increase is due to the necessity to offset the loss of local government aid in the amount of $143,000 which is determined by the Minnesota State Legislature and their revision of the formula and lack of funding LGA for 1984. There is further information regarding the proposed 1984 budget and therefore the City Administrator was directed to prepare for a budget hearing to be scheduled at the September 20, 1983, regular City Council meeting.
