EAGAN MUNICIPAL CENTER CONFERENCE ROOMS 2A&B Present: Mayor Awada, Councilmember Carlson, Director of Parks and Recreation Vraa, City Engineer Matthys, Assistant City Engineer Gorder, Administrative Specialist Wielde, Administrative Specialist Hertel, representatives from Damon Farber and Associates. CALL TO ORDER The meeting began at 11 :30 a.m. No action items were on the agenda for the Site Design Team meeting and no action was taken. CENTRAL PARK UPDATE AND PENDING ISSUES Director of Parks and Recreation Vraa reviewed the items up for discussion at the meeting. Those items included the pond, the building location, parking lot and access road issues, the potential NW A road connection, the bandshell, and the picnic shelters. Mayor A wada and Councilmember Carlson expressed concern that decisions were being made without explicit Council direction by the staff and consultants. The group reviewed options for the pond and the committee directed staff and the consultants to prepare three options with cost estimates for review at the next committee meeting. Mayor Awada asked for information about the possibility of connecting the road to NW A, citing their interest expressed at a recent meeting. The committee directed staff and the consultants to prepare three options regarding the road and corresponding cost estimates for the next committee meeting. The group agreed that a circular approach to the front of the building was desirable. Amenities within the circle were discussed. Director of Parks and Recreation Vraa presented the two options available regarding the bandshel1location. After discussion, the committee recommended following the preference of the focus group, to have the bandshel1located closer to the community center and its parking and facilities. Director Vraa discussed the evolution of the focus groups' arrival at a large picnic shelter instead of several small picnic shelters.
