SPECIAL MEETING OF THE EAGAN CITY COUNCIL
COMMUNITY CENTER/CENTRAL PARK FACILITIES DESIGN TEAM
DECEMBER 19, 2000
11 :30 A.M.
EAGAN MUNICIPAL CENTER
CONFERENCE ROOMS 2A&B
Present: Councilmembers Bakken and Carlson, Councilmember-elect Fields, Director of Parks
and Recreation Vraa, Assistant City Engineer Gorder, Administrative Specialist Wielde,
Administrative Specialist Hertel, representatives from Damon Farber and Associates, Stahl
Construction, TKDA and Moody-Nolan.
CALL TO ORDER
The meeting began at 11 :30 a.m. No action items were on the agenda for the Facilities
Design Team meeting and no action was taken.
COMMUNITY CENTER UPDATE AND PENDING ISSUES
Director of Parks and Recreation Vraa reviewed the issues to be discussed at the meeting.
He also reviewed the time line for bringing the issues back to the focus groups and full Council in
January and early February.
Mr. Mark Bodien of Moody-Nolan reviewed the most recent revision to the proposed
interior layout of the building. Elements discussed included the multipurpose room, fireplace
element, the double doors between the auxiliary gymnasium and banquet space, the teens
location relative to the control site, options for covered spaces outside, the square footage
allotment for the fitness area, the senior center and the Historical Society space.
Mr. Jesse Symynkywicz of Damon Farber presented the proposed placement of the
building on the property. Other issues discussed related to the site included the design of the
entrance, the location of parking lots relative to program elements within the building, bandshell
parking, wetland issues, skating pond, phasing of the project, and park shelter options. It was the
group's consensus that the Site Design Team should meet to discuss these issues and make
recommendations to the City Council as a whole.

The meeting adjourned at 1 :00 p.m.
