11/02/1965 - City Council Regular MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF 'tHE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS EAGAN TOWNSHIP. DAl<OTA COUNTY, MINNISO.r& November 2, 1965 A regular meeting of the Board of Supervisors, Eagan Township, Dakota County, Minnesota was held at the town Hall at 8:00 P. M. on November 2, 1965 at which all members were present. Upon motiQn duly made and seconded it was RESOLVED that the application of Harry Ray for construction of a single family dwelling, 24,000 square feet with attached double garage, $30,000 in Section 20 covering 13 acres be, and 1 t hereby is, approved. Mr. Lloyd Ferrins. 2054 Marble Lane appeared together with his attorney concerning operation of an auto body part business out of his residence. The board tabled the matter with the understanding that no further action would be taken provided that Mr. Ferrins minimize the traffic problem created by the operation of this business. Mr. William E. Nicholson and Robert cargill appeared concerning the transfer of ownership of the Safari Club on Highway #55. After a discussion the board recommended that Mr. Nicholson and Mr. Cargill submit a written letter outlining the proposed transfer in ownership to the town attorney and further submit application for special use permit at the next resular board meeting. The Town engineer presented a letter propos'ng acceptance of certain streets in Cedar Grove #2 and #4 including all streets in Cedar Grove #2 and all streets In Cedar Grove #4 except Shale Lane from Sandstone Drive to Cedar Avenue. The board instructed the Town Engineer to contact Cedar Grove Construction Co. relative to potential improvement of Rahn Road North of Highway 1~30. The Board considered the potential ordinance violations on the Tom Mohr property. After discussion it was decided that the Town policeman, Hartin Des Lauriers and the Town Attorney inspect the premises involved for later report to the town board. - 1 - The Town Attorney reported that a request had been usde by Gopher Smelting Company concerning the location of ~ camp trailer on Yankee Doodle Road near the Gopher Smelting Company. The Board instructed the Town Attorney to contact Gopher Smelting with a suggestion that the latter in turn contact the county attorney In respect to the applicable Minnesota statute involved. The Town Attorney presented a resolution concerning the Rahn Road Street Improvement Bonds. Upon motion duly made by Chairman Rahn and seconded by Supervisor Klein it was RESOLVED that said resolution awarding sale of $37,000 of street improvement bonds be, and it hereby is, adopted. Mr. Herald Helminiak appeared concerning the location of a culvert at the corner of Beau de Rue Road and Cedar Avenue. After discussion and upon motion by Supervisor Klein, seconded by Chairman Rahn it was RESOLVED that the Town Engineer be, and he hereby is, instructed to check the intersection and make appropriate reconrnendations to the county engineer concerning culverts. Mr. Daonald Van Engen appeared concerning fire protection for the new Applebaum shopping center near HigPway #13 and Cedar Avenue and In additton the Cedar Elementary School and Metcalf Junior High School. Upon motion duly made by Supervisor Klein and seconded by Supervisor Schwanz it was RESOLVED that the Town Zngineer mal~e recommendation to the Town Board concerning the adequacy of fire protection and proposals for future fire protection at the above locat&ons and that the Town Attorney then write the appropriate sChool officials, Applebaum Supermarket and Parranto Brothers Realty concerning the fact that there are currently inadequate water facilities to give sufficient fire protection to the above premises. - 2 - The Town Engineer reported that the contractor on the Rahn Road improvement project has determined that additional sub-cutting because of black dirt on the north end of Rahn Road exists resulting in an approximate $2,100. additonal estimated cost. The Engineer stated that a bill based upon unit price basis would be submitted at a later time. The board noted that at its last regular meeting on October 19, 1965 it accepted the resignation of Mr. Vern Le Tendre as police officer. After discussion and upon motion duly made and seconded it was I8S01.VED that Mr. Le Tendre be rehired as town police officer on a relief basis only. Upon motion all bills were paid.
